Leaning into making your own Outerwear?

In the last few years quilted garments have taken centre stage as a versatile garment you can truly personalise to suit your style. Here's our thoughts on creating a piece your love and wear when creating your own..

Select the right fabric.

A solid colour that pairs with existing pieces in your wardrobe will give you great wearability. But a patchwork version gives you endless options in terms of colour story. Will it be reversible or have visable binding? Contrast or match these elements to suit your intended 'look'.

Use the best tools.

Enjoy each stage of creating your quilted outerwear project. To make the process as easy for yourself as possible, consider using a Clover marking pen to help lay out your stitch pattern & some basting pins for the quilting stage. Use a new machine needle for the quilting.

Personalise your piece.

Choose a simple or design or stand out with an intricate stitch pattern. Pin your favourites and visualise how they will look combined with your fabric choice. Consider adding an external or internal tag to personalise your quilted outerwear. Stack a few together to give your garment a unique finish!
